2006 MOVIE EXTRA FILMINK AWARDS

And the award goes to.....

On Wed 3rd May Tsuki and co-partners FILMINK Magazine opened the doors of The State Theatre to a sold out audience of movie lovers and creators.

What an evening of celebrities, winners, film industry joy and giggles. Dov Kornits, Editor of FILMINK Magazine and Edweana Wenkart, Director of Tsuki, pulled out all stops, and then some to create one of the best Award Nights to ever provoke that heady mix of emotional gush, paparazzi flash and champagne splash.

Tsuki was extremely proud to work with our eminent sponsorship partners including Movie Extra, Sony Australia, Cutting Edge, Wireimage and YourMovies amongst others. Star attendance included Russell Crowe and The Ordinary Fear of God, Steve Bisley, David Field, Abe Forsythe, Isabel Lucas, Emily Barclay, Victoria Thaine and Sibylla Budd. The night's celebrations continued well into the small hours at The Zeta Bar, Hilton Hotel.

As voted by readers of FILMINK Magazine, these were film industry awards with a twist. John Jarratt accepted his Peter Finch Lifetime Achievement Award with an endearing mix of pride and humility. Jessica Alba (Sin City) was voted Best Sort, Wolf Creek won Film Most Likely to Ruffle Feathers as well as Best Australian Film. Russell Crowe accepted his Award for Best Australian Performance in an Overseas Film for Cinderella Man and was then joined on stage by his band to give a mesmerizing a cappella performance in tribute to film great Richard Harris. Bliss 'n Eso were not to be outdone in the live performance stakes, scorching up the stage with their stylin' hip hop.

The 2006 MOVIE EXTRA FILMINK Awards were short and sweet, tongue in cheek and sincerely celebrated great moments in recent filmic experience. Glamorous and offbeat, the evening had the audience laughing and crying, and often both at the same time!
